Thousands march in support of pension strike!

The coordinated strike action on June 30th day was a resounding success! Teachers, lecturers and civil servants walked out in their tens of thousands. Some sources say that over 700 000 took strike action. Numbers taking to the streets in support of the strikes exceeded all expectations with over 30 000 marching in London. In Liverpool, the rally had to be moved to a park as the venue was too small. Here in Manchester, there were pickets all over the city and 5,000 marched to the rally in Castlefield.  Thursday showed a glimpse of the potential we have if we take united action. It will undoubtedly strengthen anti-cuts groups up and down the country. Trade unionists and anti-cuts activists will be working to ensure that the next day of strike action is even bigger.

Join the fightback against the cuts, build a local anti-cuts group and get involved with Manchester Coalition Against Cuts!

The next meeting of MCAC is Tuesday 5th July, 7pm  at NUJ regional office, 5th floor, Arthur House, Chorlton Street. We will be discussing how to defend the NHS and planning for further activities. Organisations and individuals are encouraged to attend. Late arrivers should ring 0161 237 5020 for access.
